Family at the beach for sunset

twenty years experience | private san clemente studio | by appointment only

I'm Julie Boucher. My photography studio is located in San Clemente, about 2 miles from the beach. Most of the families I photograph live within 20 minutes of my portrait studio. If you're here, you already know your family is worth documenting beautifully.

SAN CLEMENTE

Family Photography in San Clemente.

San Clemente is a small town with a big personality, and it comes through in family portraits here more than anywhere else I work. The pier, the Spanish tile roofs, the light coming off the water from low tides at sunset. Families who grew up here want that feeling in their photos, not a studio backdrop that could be anywhere.

My studio is minutes from Ole Hanson Beach Club, Casa Romantica, and the bluffs above T-Street. If you want an outdoor session, I have a short list of favorite spots I use on rotation, chosen because the light works and the location isn't overrun by the time we're shooting. If you'd rather stay indoors, the studio is fully stocked with backdrops and props so you can just show up.

I also work with families from Talega, Forster Ranch, and Rancho San Clemente, and I regularly photograph families driving in from Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, and Laguna Niguel, since the 5 Freeway makes all of it an easy trip.

multi-generational sessions

Extended Family & Legacy Sessions in San Clemente.

San Clemente pulls people back. Grown kids fly in for the holidays, grandparents visit for a week in the summer, and families end up in the same place at the same time only once or twice a year. Those windows are exactly when an extended family session makes sense.

These sessions work well in the studio or on location, and the studio itself is built to comfortably hold a large group. If you'd rather be outdoors, the pier, the bluffs, and the beach all work well depending on the time of day and how many people you're bringing. I'll help you find the right setting once I know your group.

Most San Clemente families leave with a wall collection and album — typically between $2,500 and $10,000, with extended family and multi-generational sessions often landing at the higher end given the larger groups and larger art pieces most choose. Every investment is reviewed at your consultation so there are no surprises.

Common Questions

Everything you want to know.

────────────────────────────────────────────────

Where is your San Clemente studio located?

My studio is at 971 Calle Negocio in San Clemente, a few minutes from the beach and a few minutes from Talega. Sessions are by appointment only.

Do you photograph families on location or in the studio?

Both. The studio is fully equipped with wardrobe, props, backdrops and controlled lighting. I also shoot on location throughout San Clemente and nearby Dana Point, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Beach and many other locations.

What is the investment for a family session?

Sessions start at $395 on weekdays and $495 on weekends. Collections start at $1590. Most San Clemente families invest between $2500 and $10,000 on portraits, wall art, and albums, all reviewed at your consultation.

How far in advance should we book a family session?

Most families book four to eight weeks outs. If you have a specific date in mind, family visiting from out of town, or a milestone birthday, book earlier to make sure I have your date.

Do you photograph extended family and multi-generational sessions too?

Yes. Extended family sessions are one of my specialities, especially when family is in town for a visit or a milestone gathering. See more on extended family sessions.

What's the difference between a family session and an extended family session?

A family session is you and your immediate family, parents and kids. An extended family session brings in grandparents, siblings, cousins, and multiple generations at once, which usually calls for a larger location and a different flow, but it's built the same way: fully guided, from consultation to the finished wall art.

How many people can you photograph in an extended family session?

As many as you're bringing. Extended family sessions in San Clemente often include grandparents, siblings, and cousins across several generations, and these usually work best on location rather than in the studio if it is a significantly large group (over 20 people).

What ages do you photograph for family sessions?

All of them. Newborns through teenagers, multiple generations, even the family dog. A family session is built around whoever you're bringing.

My studio is based in San Clemente, and I regularly photograph families throughout South Orange
County and beyond.
